Spring Break- Part 1

This is the first time we have gone away for Spring Break.  I now realize what the hype is all about!  We definitely needed to reconnect as a family and driving 2300 miles will take care of that!  First stop - Auburn, Alabama - home to Auburn University and birthplace of our family.  This is where Bart and I met, began our friendship and fell in love.  You know the basic love story of:  boy meets girl, girl becomes lacrosse little sister to boy, boy and girl are both dating other people but spend all of their time together, everyone else thinks boy and girl should date and live happily ever after but boy and girl are oblivious to this, boy gets in a serious car accident and both boy and girl clue into the fact that they can not live without each other, boy and girl graduate and get jobs, boy takes way too long proposing to girl because boy's mother is feeding him and doing his laundry and who would want to leave that, boy proposes and finally, boy and girl get married and live happily ever after.

It makes me laugh sometimes how children can be swayed so easily by their parents.  Our children are now huge Auburn fans.  If we had taken them to University of Florida and told them we went there, they'd all be wearing gator shirts.  We walked around the campus, visited the bookstore for some AU wear and stumbled upon the unlocked gate of the baseball stadium.  Yippee!  Family baseball.  Took many pictures of William playing his favorite sport, wearing his new Auburn hat - you know, just in case he goes to Auburn on a full baseball scholarship.  The campus is beautiful and was deserted because they were on Spring Break too.

You know you are old when you start saying things like "well, they didn't have that when we were here!"  We graduated before all of the current students were born.  Yikes.  But really, at the risk of sounding old, when we were there, they had a normal cafeteria and now they have all of these restaurants INSIDE the student union:

Probably better off.  I would have been a 300 pound freshman living next to Chick-fil-A!
