Happy home

Don't know about you, but I am feeling cooped up!   This weather is crazy, I've had sick kids home from school all week, etc. etc.     Here is a bad equation:    too much time at home + too much Pinterest = hating your house.    Truly, I feel overwhelmed with what I want to do but don't have time to do.    Trying to reel it back in, I am trying this:

Now don't get me wrong, our home is happy - but this winter funk is getting me down!     I'm all for the "kiss more" but "abandon a project".  What ?!  But I am going to read it.  I need to feel the love for our house and reclaim my need for simplicity.   I'll let you know how it goes!

It has come to my attention that a stuffed animal election is being held.  I know this because these are plastered all over my house:

Apparently, the office in play is "Presatant" of the second floor, which I guess if you are a stuffy fluffy is the crown jewel because that is the only place they reside in our house.

Even though this is the only ticket that has advertised (and that goes a long way in my book), it has been announced via the kitchen chalkboard that a speech will be given at 5:30 to help us decide.

I asked William if his lovie bunny was running or was it the back-up bunny (equally loved.)  I mean, one must know which hare one is voting for.  He said they are both running together and their motto is "two heads are better than one."   Which is a great motto since the bunnies are little blankies and they only have heads.   What they lack in guts, they surely make up for in brainpower.

Get out the vote!

I heart January

I hope you had a lovely Christmas.  We sure did - Christmas day at home, followed by a 2,000 mile road trip to the East Coast.  And now, home to 12 plus inches of snow and 2 snow days.

I can not believe its been over a month since I have posted.  Eeks!  New Year's Resolution #1 - post more.  Not sure if anyone is paying attention to my little boring blog, but to the handful of people that might be - I'll start posting again.

Three years after our fire, I am back to loving January.  It is the month that all organizing nerds love.  The tree is down, the Santas and snowmen are put away and the house looks like a blank canvas.  And with no yard work to be done - the inside takes center stage.

The kids go back to school tomorrow and I will be at my favorite organizing spot - The Container Store.    I will be buying more of these:

These boxes are fantastic.  Starting at just a mere $1.69 for the small 7 inch square, many combination of the boxes fit on our playroom shelves.  I can not get enough of these boxes - we use them in the playroom, kitchen, linen closet, craft area, bathrooms.  I always think I've bought enough, and then back I go for more.

We acquired some of the coolest toys for Christmas (from both Santa and relatives).  Tomorrow I'll tell you about them!
